Producers decide they're not going to wait on Bill Murray and Harold Ramis to patch things up. They're going back to follow the same formula as the original film and hire Saturday Night Live actors to play a new team.

  • Dan Akroyd cameos as a retired Ray
  • Ernie Hudson returns as Winston, veteran Ghostbuster (and token Black guy)
  • Adam Sandler plays the goofy rookie
  • Chris Farley plays the fat goofy rookie
  • a hot blonde plays the tough chick who's completely professional, but gets subject to repeated catcalls and innuendo from Adam Sandler and Chris Farley. Despite being utterly annoyed with both men, she inexplicably falls in love with Adam Sandler in the film's closing scene (Hey, it's the 90s and you knew this would happen)
  • Harold Ramis has an audio cameo as a recording of Egon giving a lecture on ghosts
  • None of the other cast members return
Would that have been better or worse than having no sequels until Ghostbusters '16?
