Not really large territories. The combat is what's most like Dark Souls except with shooting being the focus. The levels are randomly generated and they're basically just a long path to a boss fight. Really not much exploration outside of different paths or a few crates to break here and there iirc. At least I never really found anything cool while exploring lol

The bosses can sometimes be extreme bullshit. So keep that in mind.

third person shooter dark souls, it's not a roguelite, you don't lose anything for dying, but you do grind shit over and over again. unless you want to play online a lot, i'd skip it

also there are tons of items and weapons to find by exploring, it's just that you have to restart runs a million times because it's all random

A bit surprised by all the negative comments, I thought Remnant was pretty solid from what I did play of it. I didn't finish it, something else came out when I was in the middle of playing it that grabbed me and I never went back. I remember it being pretty good though. I don't seem to have as high of standards as most users on CE though.

It was kind of dumb since I didn't do enough research on it, but I assumed it was going to be open world with a broader sense of adventure and a different quest flow.

Something about taking on a quest and then going to a pre-set map and just killing monsters for materials feels too artificial for me, I can't enjoy it.

Also I personally found the combat to be clunky but that's because I didn't really practice enough to get good at it (I've seen gameplay footage and it does look crisp if you're good).

Also a valid point, I know a lot of people say The Witcher 3's combat was the worst thing ever because Dark Souls exists and ... I actually liked the combat in TW3 -_-

Don't listen to anyone saying Remnant sucks. It's great. And the boss fights do not suck either, they're one of the highlights of the game. The only real frustrating aspect of Remnant is that since the dungeons and encounters are randomly generated for each campaign you roll, you obviously can't get everything in one playthrough. There is an Adventure Mode separate from the campaign for each world that's intended as a means to encounter the things you missed, but it's still random. You could potentially take ages to roll the dungeon or event for an item or gun you really want.

This. The game also starts rather slowly, and gear is slowgoing in the acquisition department at the start. Game picks up when you start getting the non-starter/buff abilities.

I'm ok with that as long as there's like variety to the content.

Like I remember Diablo 3 having a similar mechanic, sometimes certain quests or lore items wouldn't spawn so you'd have to replay through it. I actually liked it in that game since you could experience other stuff and it wasn't a super long title.

Just was very poorly designed, especially in co-op. I only ever fought it once alone and it was still probably the worst boss fight in the game. They may have fixed it, but I think the premise of the fight is still the same. So it probably is still a poor boss battle.

Lol that reminds me of one of the early bosses in The Secret World. I don't remember the exact mechanic but there's a tree root right before the cavern with the boss and if you touch the root it gives you a buff that lets you heal in the water. If you don't touch it the boss is hard af.
