I like how the first two weapons were garbage and I couldn't get past the first boss but made it to area 3 first try once I unlocked the shield. Shield rocks.

You really want the Ares legendary for it to go off. Blade Rift requires you to go deep on buffing it.

Can Aspect of Lucifer Rail be good for damage? I usually go Zeus attack with it and that seems good because it attacks so fast, but since the damage "ramps" supposedly I thought maybe getting Aphrodite attack would be good but it seems pretty weak.

Yeah blade rifts require all in on ares. You want every single blade rift boon, and both the cast and dash. Hunting blades is i think the priority for duo boons, the demeter one is good too but the seeking/speed is super important. Mirage shot is generally good with any cast build but the mirage isnt another blade rift unfortunately. I think parting shot would do better than mirage for "i already have everything else" boons"

I also suggest using stygian soul, as you then dont need to chase down the casts. It also paira very nicely with achilles spear because 150% cast damage is huge, and the special mechanic allows you to rush right into enemies and unleash your buffed cast right in their face. You always want to be launching the cast at point blank. The tracking from the artemis duo is more to keep them on the enemy than to get them there.

iirc mac, you were using the hera bow with the rifts? Which, while it does drop them right on top of the enemy, you get no extra damage. And without that 150% from achilles its going to be a lot weaker for sure.

I still am not a big fan of Stygian Soul. It feels to me that it's too reliant on getting the +1 cast buffs to output damage quickly. Tracking down the casts is occasionally obnoxious but it just feels to me that I'm doing way more dps even with that.

I can see the argument for the longer duration casts like Festive Fog but Blade Rift has a short enough duration that it feels much more powerful to spam 3 and quickly recover them.

I don't know about a tier list but I know the speedrun strat is to put Zeus's chain lightning on gun attack and just melt everything.

I liked the spear (specifically Achilles) a lot initially but I haven't come back to it that much recently outside of achievements. It feels to me like it's pretty reliant on getting a good build that lines up well with its moveset, while other weapons like bow, shield, and hidden sword are just naturally powerful.

Fist > Bow > Sword > Gun > Spear > Shield would probably be my personal tier list. Everyone's is different, though.

Setting aside gun+Zeus as objectively the most powerful (seriously give it a shot sometime it's nuts) I think I'd go:

Shield > Bow > Sword > Fists > Spear > Gun

As far as my personal favorite/strongest aspects are. Also putting aside that all the Fist and Bow aspects are good while half the shield and sword ones suck ass.

Spear is definitely good at first, but it's my least favorite weapon now. All the aspects are merely whatever with Achilles probably being the most interesting one.

Fun: Blade > Fists > Gun > Bow > Shield > Spear
Efficient: Bow > Shield > Hidden Blade > Gun > Fists > Spear > other Blade

so i did 16 heat for the first time, and zeus decided to give me epic boons for literally everything. literally everything. kinda wish i had done 32 heat instead! had i not had to go through all 5 chambers of styx for the sack, it probably would have been my fastest clear as well.

okay, i tried a blade rift build with infernal soul again and yeah, it's definitely better. it's more annoying maybe in the early stages before you have hunting blades, but once you have that they tend to not drift too far away. had one of the easiest elysium clears of any non-rail weapon i've done, i think. melted styx/hades as well. and that was with only blade rifts on my cast, not the dash or call. also never picked up the boon that increases the rift size. that one is nice, especially for dash rifts, but probably not worth it in the end. especially with hunting blades.

one of these days i'll get the perfect build with hunting blades *and* the demeter duo

i might need to try a blade rift build... i'm typically extremely dismissive of the build but maybe it's worth a try

anyways, is this game considered to be pretty mythologically accurate? I was watching this video on a whim as i click anything that says Hades lately.... she describes Hades and the plot of this game almost pitch perfectly then goes on to display a bunch of portrayals of Hades that don't fit that description at all. So I guess some level of accuracy is yet another strength of this game?

it's not necessarily accurate, they take a lot of liberties and make changes, but it definitely is built on a broader depth of accuracy/knowledge than most popular modern portrayals. so, yes/no

cast builds in general are a ton of fun and i think easy to overlook (blade rifts included) - despite being limited in number, they have crazy high base damage values and get really strong really fast. they work best with the achilles spear, poseidon sword, beowulf shield, or hera bow. achilles works well with basically any cast, poseidon technically works just as well, but heavily favors casts that lodge in the enemy and getting exit wounds (and probably a lot of other artemis boons for the legendary), beowulf is definitely best with aphrodite or dionysus, and i haven't used hera much but it's probably the worst of the bunch unfortunately.

that said, it's a lot easier to pull off hyper-specific builds like the blade rifts once you have your mirror fully filled out and have a lot more control over what boons you get.

The biggest liberties in the story, aside from Zagreuss actions themselves, are in who is related to whom; Supergiant understandably wished to avoid incest in the story. Persephones father is normally Zeus, not a random mortal. This game also makes Demeter, Hera, and Hestia the daughters of Hyperion rather than Cronus (which is why Demeter calls Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades foster-brothers).

There's not a second credit sequence, but there is an epilogue. It's a bit of a low effort scene, but it does take care of all the loose ends. Not sure exactly what the requirements are, but you have to get just about every Olympian god to max affinity.

yeah there's the epilogue for maxing out most of the gods, and i'm still getting plot points that involve dialogue from basically everyone in the house. got a really fun one recently about dusa getting fired

My first clear was Spear, oddly enough. But yeah, I never really figured out how to do good damage with it, other than the Hammer upgrade that gives you triple dash attack.

this build was unplanned but ended up being stupid strong. with less styx chambers it would have beaten my previous eris/zeus time.

eris rail, with hangover on the dash and call. always need room for at least 3 more pins on the end screen tbh. also had the ares boon that increased doom damage per stack. my hammers were ricochet fire, which ended up being really nice not using zeus on the attack, and cluster fire which is always OP.

Almost had a super beyblade run, was using Zeus shield that was dishing out Hangover, and got all the blade rift Ares boons, but even though I had Artemis I just never got Hunting Blades to make it truly complete. Zeus instead of Dionysus on the shield would have been great too

another super strong cast build with achilles. curse of drowning/tidal dash synergise sooo well. special rush into the enemies, load up all your casts, then dash around while pulsing. and then all the lightning everywhere on top of it (and whatever other poseidon boons you can stack. i couldn't find the extra damage vs bosses ever unfortunately. will have to try this again sometime).an epic ravenous will from demeter was an extra cherry on top, for 30% more damage with 0 casts available, which is always with this setup.

i did get rather lucky too that i had all 4 of those gods in my build by the end of tartarus and could use the pom flower for ashopdel and elysium. i paid for this by having to go through all 5 chambers of styx

Anyway I wanted to get more keys to unlock a new weapon, so I picked the sword again because it had the darkness+ modifier. I just wanted to get past the first boss with it and get the blood, which I still don't quite know what that does but oh well it's probably important. Anyway I figured I had enough experience to beat Meg with it now only for a new boss to show up in her place. I assumed that would happen sometime, but I wish it wasn't when I was using a weapon I'm not good with. I beat it, but just barely. This current run probably isn't going to last long.

The game doesn't tell you but you can block like 99% of attacks by holding down the shield charge and facing the direction of the attack. Pretty much every attack from Hades can be blocked so if you get to him with the shield again you should practice just holding the charge and facing him.

So I finally got the ability to upgrade my weapons and I chose the thing that turns the shield throw into basically a blade rift. And then I immediately got Doom on it. So in any tough fight I can just sit behind my shield while my spinning Beyblade of death whittles down enemies with ease. Most of them just stand in the middle of it and die in seconds. Oh, and then I got actual blade rifts. Needless to say the Hydra was a complete joke.

Question about the weapon upgrades. Would you recommend I just stick with powering up the shield because I like it the most, or spread out upgrades to make other weapons better? Some of these upgrades seem kind of situational. Like rather than being a straight up buff it's a lateral change to the playstyle. I can't really tell how useful they'll be without trying it out myself, so I don't want to waste the blood...

You shouldn't need to completely power up a weapon aspect to get a Clear with it at low heat. I think you have to spend a certain amount (5?) of Titan Blood per weapon to have the possibility to have the conditions to unlock the last aspect appear.

What I did was spend the blood to be able to use each of the different aspects, as I think there's a prophesy associated with that. After that, I just powered stuff up a little bit as needed if I was trying to get a successful run.

Can't believe I won. Some background: I've been doing at least ten 32 Heat runs, with most ending in Tartarus. I was kinda picking whatever on Heat and that didn't go well. Then I specifically focused on avoiding boon-based conditions (Approval Process, Routine Inspection) and going hard on speed (Tight Deadline 5:00, Forced Overtime x40). At the same time, most of my high heat wins so far came from DPSing, especially on cast. It just was not working for 32 Heat.

So I tried out Chiron Bow, which I hadn't used for a long time in favor of experimenting with other weapons. I tried that out with a new Heat focus, this time with 100% Hard Labor, which I never bothered with before. I also gave myself more time and lowered Forced Overtime. I took my time and focused entirely on avoiding damage, not dealing damage.

Avoiding Routine Inspection is so necessary for me. Both having a higher rarity on boons and having Fated Persuasion is just so useful to craft a perfect build. I got really lucky with having a near-perfect hammer duo too. It was a slow run. I even had to survive the Tight Deadline penalty on both EM3 Theseus and Hades. But having all 3 Death Defiances for EM3 Theseus was good and then restoring back to 3 for Hades was incredibly clutch.

I'm trying to do Chiron for 32 heat but it's not working out. I think I just need to drop the time limit entirely somehow because it really kills me. I'm a slow player doing 30-40 minute runs so trying to get in under 7 minutes is anathema to me, even if i wasn't dealing with mobs that hit like trucks or a million mobs from jury summons and illusions

EM4 Hades run using Pom Blossom as my only keepsake the entire run. It's easily the best keepsake. I really lucked out getting Heavy Knuckle as my first hammer upgrade, so I can boost that Attack all the way up. Getting the Hunting Blades combo just sealed the deal.

Spent about an hour last night starting runs, giving nectar to as many gods as possible in the first area and then dying to the lava in 2nd area. The last 2 trophies I need are "purge a legendary boon" (which sucks because I already did that but I was playing in offline mode so it didn't register) and see the epilogue.

I think I'll be officially done after those trophies.

I got to the epilogue the other day and I'm still missing three achivements: unlock all aspects (Zeus won't give me the gun), the Achilles achievement, and therefore also the all Companion one as well.

Achilles is a bit of a pain since Patroclus can take forever to get the right dialogue for (Achilles gives you the last companion too). Can just do suicide runs for Zeus tho.

Yeah I actually thought I had exhausted Patroclus's dialogue on it while waiting for Achilles, but apparently not. Now I have post-epilogue stuff in there JmI have to get rid of.

Zeus was a bit similar in that he was locked into epilogue lead-up dialogue for a long time. I'm not too worried about him because I can guarantee him on runs.

Are you making sure to specifically build for them? Most of them have specific prerequisites for showing up. Also using the green reroll talent helps a lot. Legendaries can still be a bit obnoxious with bad luck if the game decides to not have the god show up frequently enough but I can get tons of duos and usually at least one legendary per run if I'm aiming for them.

Also I'm not sure on how the math works out on Olympian Favor vs Dark Foresight but I prefer the latter to get more chances for rare boons and better builds

That achievement will unlock from purging a Duo boon, for what its worth. Thats how I did it without even trying

If this game gets another major update I'd love to see a daily run or some kind of modifier where you can have weird runs. Some stuff like "only Zeus boons" or "your weapon has all upgrades but no boons" would be cool
