There is so much crap that I was put off from anime. Like hunter x hunter is supposed to be very very good but I watched 4 episodes and couldn't get into it.

a few series that I really liked: Banana Fish, Beastars, Dorohedoro, Dr. Stone, Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga was by far the best. Nothing came close.
