Depends on who you are, what the rest of your diet looks like, and several other factors. But for most people in most cases, diet soda is better than regular soda (and worse than water).

diet/no sugar drinks are substituted with aspartame which itself has been linked to numerous health complications.
besides, diet drinks have a psychological effect on people where cause they consume a drink with no calories, they in place consume more food with that drink.

I recently started drinking soda again. The best of my local pizzerias stocks Dr. Browns Diet Black Cherry. It was bought for me, I probably would've given it to someone else if I saw the diet label, but it's the best soda I can remember tasting. I can finally have soda with pizza again, the deep desire embedded with my ignorant American upbringing!

But yeah fuck coke or whatever. Shit's a pox.

This is almost entirely false. Aspartame is one of the most strictly tested food-things out there. Hell, wouldn't be surprised if these things were pushed by Big Soda lmao but no i'm serious

Eh, looking at the potential harms of the sugar substitutes is only half of the picture. You also need to consider the potential harms of the sugar itself. I suspect a lot of people underestimate the harms of excess sugar consumption.

Last I checked, aspartame is heavily regulated by the FDA and theyve found no direct link to health issues unless you're consuming DOZENS of soda sugar free drinks every single day.
