I know a lot of games like this give you some degree of metaprogression / upgrades but there is just SO MUCH STUFF locked behind playthroughs (and not even just a few playthroughs, tons and tons of them) that it's difficult to even call a run on a fresh file playing the same game

Really? I feel like the progression is at least as fast if not faster than games like Rogue Legacy, Dead Cells or Wizard of Legend. Especially unlocking the weapons, which to me is the biggest thing. Yes some stuff requires a lot to be maxed out, but unlocking is pretty swift IMO

So is this just gonna be the new Hades general? I've slowed down on playing it after doing that epilogue quest where you're inviting Olympus to the underworld, but I still wanna finish some stuff up. I think the only NPC's I haven't maxed out yet are Demeter, Achilles, Patroclus, and Sisyphus. I've also only finished up to heat level 16 for the second statue in the training area, so I'll have to try level 32 at some point.

My favorite roguelike is still Enter the Gungeon, but Hades is probably gonna be the best roguelike I play in terms of story and soundtrack. It's just on the easier side and progression feels slow only because you have to finish entire runs before you can resume something, because a character was in the House of Hades or talked about something else instead of what you wanted. Also the whole being limited to one nectar/ambrosia per run and going over heat level doesn't give you previous rewards.

Absolutely digging Beowulf shield. Load up 3x Festive Fogs and smite bosses ASAP, while 1 fog per run is enough to burn through most rando baddies.

Currently just using whatever weapon is giving darkness bonus, though I've no use for darkness/gems any more. Around heat 15/16 on my better weapons, generally opting for 4x extreme measures and Middle management, and then misc shit to fill in the rest. Doing a run where I only get 1 option from the gods sounds pretty novel.

As far as roguelikes go, my personal favorite to date Enter the Breach, but this is far more action oriented. I like Hades far more than Binding of Isaac or Enter the Gungeon, personally.

how hard is the last boss with extreme measures philsov? Im up to 15 heat on my highest weapon and some of the choices are starting to get tough. I usually do EM3 and middle management, or tight deadline with anything except the bow

4th boss is pretty nasty, not gonna lie. He gains the ability to self heal from grabby green pots, has a third phase with obscured vision, summons Cerberus, and gains the ability to throw his spear and then dash to it a la Achilles. It's honestly rougher than getting two ranks in the "armored foes get elite perks" or some combo of damage control+tight deadline+jury summons+higher cost.

If your goal is highest possible heat complete, put off rank 4 Extreme Measures as much as you can. I personally like it for the practice and difficulty; stuff like jury summons and higher charon cost is just... boring.

Oof yeah that sounds rough. I havent had too much of a problem with the one that gives armored enemies extra abilities or EM3 so Ill probably stick with those. And middle management is just a free 2 heat basically

Pretty much. Learn the boss / mob mechanics a little bit, use keys/darkness to get more powers, etc. At some point you basically cap out; you've got your keepsakes leveled, weapon is fed titan's blood, and there's no room for upgrades. This is obviously after you've beat the final boss lots of times. Then you can start toying with the difficulty options and seeing how far you can go as the game throws a few more mechanics at you.

Yeah. There are 4 areas within the game and a boss at the end of each one. Multiple things to unlock and upgrade that carry over to each new play through. Once you've beaten the final boss, you can increase the difficulty multiple times over to earn more rewards, unlock more story, and face enemies/bosses with new tactics.

You could beat the last boss on your first run if youre good enough. You still die at the end, its hard to escape the Underwoorld

I played Bastion when it first came out and it was pretty fun. might have to see what else they added some time. I started Transistor but the combat system was weird and didn't really click for a couple hours

Pick up Bastion next time it's on sale. Pretty similar in terms of gameplay with isometric aspect and array of weapons, but noteworthy storyline/narration/soundtrack.

What are some notable sides of the mirror upgrades you guys prefer over the other? Some specific ones that I usually can't decide between are boiling/abyssal blood (more damage towards or slowing/weakening enemies with cast in them), infernal/stygian soul (more casts or regenerating casts), deep pockets/golden touch (starting with 100 gold or getting 15% gold at the end of an area).

I definitely prefer more casts rather than regenerating casts... I'm still trying to decide on the gold one

I prefer three casts, enemies take more damage, start with 100 gold, enemies take more damage when they're under two or more status effects, +50 starting health unless I'm using hidden aspect Sword, and re-rolling boon choices instead of rooms.

I prefer the one that gives a higher chance of legendary and duo boons. Also the one that gives a higher chance of boon/hammer rooms. Rare and elite boons are nice but it sucks when I'm assuming for a particular duo/legendary and just never get it.

• Reach final boss. You dont have to win
• Upgrade each Weapon once
• Upgrade The Spear A few times (cant be the first aspect)
• Talk to Achilles and that will unlock the 4th one for the spear.
• After youve done this for the Spear, you can do it for all the weapons. Upgrade them a few times (cant be the first one) and then talk to one of the Gods. I think the Gun is with Zeus, for example. But you have to do the Spear first

Spear first (requires spending 5 Titan Blood on the spear), then you can unlock anyone. You spend at least 5 Titan Blood on the weapon, then some character will give you a phrase that you go and tell to the weapon to awaken its final form
