I remember going to see the show way back when I was little, but I have basically no recollection of anything aside from y'know, neat dances and stuff.
I'm sure it was fine enough, but I haven't seen the movie since I'm sure its not all that good. I also don't like the dick move of blaming the CGI guys as if the weird uncanny valley-ness of the movie was the only problem. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I saw a broadcast of Cats on PBS many years ago. It was weird watching the frau from Austin Powers who works for Dr Evil as she danced in a form fitting leotard and cat makeup.

I finally watched the movie this recent weekend. It felt like self induced torture.
I kid you not, 2-3 minutes in I already felt regret, but decided to do it for the sake of knowledge. It's 1h 44m of non-credits, and I found myself checking the clock every 4-8 minutes. So that's a lot of clock checking. It just feels like it drags on because it goes from one song to the song relentlessly without a breather between. They could have probably slipped that into the movie somehow, and they did towards the end to remind you there's plot. So it shows it can help relieve the relentless songing. I don't really recommend it. However, there were some nice scenes visually and some songs are catchy. The cat designs are still weird/wrong to me which reminded me of those two comments I once saw. "Only furries want this" "No, we don't" My mom also saw it, and she thought they'd be actual costumes. Once I had to point out to her it was CG she thought it was lame. ... Copied to Clipboard!
