I was calling teachers by their first names too. And they enjoyed that because they knew what was good for them.

One of my best friends used to call his dad by his first name. When his dad asked him why he does that my friend told him "all of your friends call you that"

Was one of the absolute sweetet things I've heard

My cousins all do this with our aunts and uncles. I'm the only one that still uses aunt or uncle so and so first.

I have one aunt that made us call her by her first name because she was only 6 years older than me and 18 years younger than my mom

But now it looks like her kids also call her by her first name so the problem may run deeper

My brother and I call all of our aunts & uncles by their first names only. Almost all of our other cousins use Aunt or Uncle before the name. I can only think that at a young age, we were taught to call them that, so thats what we did.

On my moms side, most of my cousins were halfway across the country, so I was rarely exposed to those cousins growing up.

On my dads side, Im the oldest of the cousins, and theres a 15 year age gap between me and the a large majority of the cousins (theres me and my brother, two other cousins within a 3 year age gap that all call the aunts and uncles by first name, and then 9 of the younger cousins who all say aunt or uncle). So I was basically in my 20s when they started saying Aunt & Uncle, and I wasnt about to change things that much later.

Thats the thing though, they all used to use aunt or uncle when they were younger. But then its like once everyone turned 18 they all decided to drop that part since they were adults now to.

One of my best friends had a stepfather that married his mom when he was a toddler and he always called him by his first name growing up. But when his younger siblings were born (biological children of his stepdad and mom), his siblings ended up calling their actual dad by his first name since that's how they always heard him get called so it stuck so even today as adults, they all call their own father by his first name lol

Ok yeah, that is odd. Unless the aunts and uncles specifically told them to stop using it going forward, although Id doubt all of them would do that. Maybe one of them, but not all.
