https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Hebdo
Would their work been seen as "art" and "freedom of speech" if an American version existed? Or would it be considered a hate group? And if there is a division, how it fall across left/right-leaning circles? This is, of course, in light of various bombings/killings against workers of Charlie Hebdo. There was a stabbing in September 25 2020, but the 18 year old Pakistani refugee went to their old office building and stabbed 2 people not affiliated with magazine. See: https://www.zenger.news/2020/09/30/charlie-hebdo-knife-attack-suspect-praised-by-father-in-pakistan/ For more, check out this controversial piece: https://twitter.com/NesrineMalik/status/687274636938186752?s=20 My (uniformed) opinion is that I don't think such a publication could exist here. The only (loose) parallel I can think of is how many television shows have taken down episodes recently (in light of the current civil rights uprising) that had various anti-Black references or depictions. Had to look up the "Aylan" referenced here; he was a three year old boy who drowned in the Mediterranean as his family tried to reach Europe

And here is the other half of the reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015%E2%80%9316_New_Year%27s_Eve_sexual_assaults_in_Germany As a note, I did choose that example for its incredible controversy (most of the other infamous examples include depictions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad) --- Godel, Escher, Bach ...
