Figured it was just a replaceable on the bottom

Is there any reason to do so? I'm guessing a few games the time matters

You'd think they would make something like that a lot easier, considering the battery will eventually need replacing. A hatch on the bottom with a single screw would have been a lot more ideal.

@TroutPaste

I have not swapped out the battery, but I have worked on that board.
I have had to replace the Resistor on that board, as it is used as a fuse...the Resistor even has a Fuse Schematic symbol under it. ((A broken wire on the controller can blow it.))

While I was in there I changed to the LED to a nice blue one.

If you know what you are doing it should be relatively easy.
Though really, all that battery does is save the time and date, as far as I know.
So you don't really have to do it.

This is my advice though....Be real careful with that Ribbon Stip, it can fray very easily which can effectively brick the DC.
That is the one thing you should be the most mindful of.
It can happen when you are trying to put it back into its slot after your repair.
