So this would be a list where there would (presumably) be several more entries earlier in your life, since you hadnt played as many games and thered be a decent chance for a game to overtake the #1 all time rank. Its a lot easier to have a new #1 when youve only played 5 games compared to the hundreds youve probably played today.

Also, by default, this would mean that the very first game you ever played (or can remember playing) should start your list.

To the best of my knowledge, heres mine:

Parsec (TI-99)
Kung Fu (NES)
Super Mario Bros (NES)
Mike Tysons Punch-Out!! (NES)
Legend of Zelda (NES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Final Fantasy IV (SNES)
Street Fighter II (SNES)
Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES)
Super Street Fighter II (SNES)
Final Fantasy VII (PS1)
Goldeneye 007 (N64)
Super Smash Bros Melee (GameCube)
Street Fighter IV (360)

SFIV would include all of the updates, through Ultra SFIV.

I had to stop and think about a few timelines with when I got games. If Id played Link to the Past prior to Final Fantasy IV, it wouldve squeaked on there momentarily. Also had to think about if I liked Doom & Doom II more than the Street Fighter II games. Close call.

Hmm... My memory is hazy but something like this:
Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA, first game)
Drawn to Life (DS)
Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS)
Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (DS)
Minecraft (PC)
Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
Back to Minecraft for a little
Metroid Zero Mission (GBA)

And finally Celeste (PC) currently... a pretty homogenous list, the stuff I grew up with wasn't so varied I guess

Let's see...

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Sega Gamegear)
The Lion King (Sega Genesis)
Goldeneye 007 (Nintendo 64)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
Pokemon Blue Version (Gameboy)
Pokemon Silver Version (Gameboy Color)
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64)
Final Fantasy VIII (PlayStation)
Diablo II (PC)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (PlayStation 2)
WarCraft III (PC)
Pokemon Sapphire Version (Gameboy Advance)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Nintendo Gamecube)
Halo 2 (Xbox)
World of Warcraft (PC)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo Gamecube)
Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360)
Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360)
Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360)
Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox 360/Xbox One)
Red Dead Redemption II (Xbox One)
Spider-Man (PlayStation 4)

All I could think of. It's weird to think that at some point playing all of those games I felt "this is the best game ever!" lol

Looking through the list though, I'd probably only pick like 5 of those being legitimate contenders for best game ever.

I never really thought about it until about the early-mid 2000s, when I alternated between:

Deus Ex
Diablo II
Metroid Prime

before more or less settling on Deus Ex.

In terms of games that probably were my favorite before then without me specifically designating them as such:

Pokemon Red
Metal Gear Solid
Pokemon Gold

Some I really enjoyed at friends'/cousins' houses, like Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye, etc. I had a Mega Drive (Genesis) and PS1.

I'm not really sure what my first game was honestly. Maybe Pac-Man or Tetris (GB). I vaguely remember playing a TMNT game early on too. It was on a system that took those large floppy disks, possibly the Amstrad given I live in the UK. Probably this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_(NES_video_game)

I didn't properly get into gaming until I was a bit older (with Pokemon pretty much), hence the near absence of older games. I have gone back and played loads of games that have since become favorites (but not the favorite) though, e.g. Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Mega Man X, A Link to the Past, etc. Plus the above games I played elsewhere.

DuranOfForcena posted...
The Legend of Zelda
Chrono Trigger

uhhh.... that's all

Im actually curious as to how many people would have lists like this, where the favorite game is an older game, so the list is small.

Uh

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
NFL Blitz
Donkey Kong 64
Super Smash Bros Melee
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I only played this on the GC, as part of Wind Waker's pre-order bonus)
Civilization V
XCOM 2
Hitman 2

But I might be inflating my view of the last few. Recency bias and all.
