Note: I cant leave my job, so dont suggest that please.

I work in Japan. My coworkers are a mix of American and Japanese. One particular American coworker is insanely bossy, and always tells me what to do, despite me being older, having more experience, and having more credentials as well. I dont mind suggestions, but not obvious stuff that has been made blatantly clear.

I also often find things disappearing in my work area. When I ask if anyone borrowed or moved it, everyone denies it, and then it reappears. I get told Im forgetful or making Messy. This happens very often.

The worker is also very passive aggressive, leaving hit s behind that they want me to pick something up, like leaving something on my table. A dish i didnt wash. A piece of plastic i missed or didnt recycle properly (Japan is super anal about recycling). Ive cleaned up after her multiple times and never made an issue out of it, inf act, she hasnt followed her assigned cleaning in months, because she is busy, even though i didnt get nay slack cut when I was.

this month, we have to translate and localize a few scripts. We were asked to go over eachothers scripts to make corrections. She went over mine and added a bunch of flavor text in her style, while adding little of substance. When going over hers, she denied most grammar errors and defended some as well.

Ive tried to confront my boss, but my boss is in the mind that we need to get along and that Im making things up. It hurts and is starting to make me feel a bit anxious.

To keep your stuff from being taken get a small lock box and keep the keys on you.

To the other bullshit make a huge deal about her not recycling, and comment on her not wanting to save the environment when she is to busy.

When she starts correcting what you write tell her that it was written that way because you know best, and that if you wanted her opinion you would ask her for it.

If she is being exceptionally annoying you can loudly tell her to stop staring at your pants, that this is sexual harassment. Its low but if you want to get someone to fuck off you need to send a message.
