Near the end of season 1 but haven't finished yet.

Some observations:

It definitely has that 2000s feel in terms of style, and feel of teen/college horror. It has similarities to Smallville, Dean played Whitney and Jared looks a bit like Tom Welling. They both follow the monster of the week pattern.

Each episode follows a similar pattern (so far) someone is killed in the prologue, the brothers take the case, they get some preliminary intel, antagonize someone, someone else gets killed about half way through which furthers the plot on what they're dealing with, they get the right idea eventually and end the problem. There're subplots between the brothers (usually comic relief) and the overreaching seasonal arc (which isn't comic relief).

I'm assuming the monsters and greater lore will be explained in later seasons, I know major figures like archangels and gods come later.

I notice that sometimes scenes skip around, like the hours they spend on the road. For a fast paced show, it's funny to think of them just cruising for hundreds of miles, saying nothing plot relevant. Some times the camera skips a few seconds because of something implausible. Like when the cop handcuffed Dean to the car, the camera shows her cuffing him and skips to cuffing him to the car.

Some questions:

How the hell do these guys not have bolos out for them in half the country? After all the crimes they commit and moving across state lines, it's weird they don't get caught and do major time.

Where do they get the money for all the gas the Impala guzzles, food and hotel bills?

How are the monsters not common knowledge if dozens of incidents happen all over the place constantly?

you'll see more on these, but for the second one, I think it's something minor, like a bit of hustling and credit card scam type of stuff.

since those kinda attacks still pretty rare, most people don't believe in the supernatural

like, if you told me that you survived an attack from a demon, I wouldn't believe you
