Yeah, Mao is deadly wrong here. Sadly the CCP seems to have taken him to heart in this.
It's a good point that people have different degrees of expertise and credibility in different matters. That doesn't mean people don't have a right to speak on things they know nothing to little about. It just means people should know not to give them much if any credit. This is something educated people know. So the problem here is education. A lot of people have been growing up not knowing who or what to believe.
