Secondly, my lack of voting is my complaint.

That shaming argument always falls apart the second you express desire to vote for someone other than who they want. Its entirely shallow and falls apart with minimum scrutiny.

Agreed. Not voting based on this is a huge slap in the face. And honestly, people need to be more educated in politics. This needs to be mandatory in school and learn about your local politicians going on up.

I agree. If I regard both major party candidates to be poor options, I'm not going to choose between dog shit and horse shit, or vote for a third party candidate who I know can't win anyway.

The fundamental error in your thinking is the presumption that my poll regarding Hitler means I am of the opinion that he did not hate Jews. I posted that poll because I had seen that argument raised on another site and decided to see what this board thought about it. (And the fact that he allowed his former childhood doctor, Eduard Bloch, a Jewish man, to flee Europe with his family for America, shows that he was not completely subservient to hate. He made exceptions, which makes him even scarier, IMO.)

And my comment earlier about "the only way to win" is not in reference to Trump in particular, but to the general state one may find oneself in politically, when neither candidate seems appealing.

Voting empowers your representation, not voting means you accept whatever happens - you have no voice. There are cases when voters who normally would vote instead stay home and accept theloss, but in this case you are advocating for no voice whatsoever.

I don't really care if you vote or not, but just as far as this is concerned "not voting because I'm angry" and "not voting because I'm too lazy/don't care/etc." look exactly the same to an outsider, so its value as a protest is low.

Voter suppression and disenfranchisement kind of destroy this argument. If election day was a national holiday, registration was automatic, and voting was required then there'd be an argument. Oh wait, it ignores anyone who wasn't old enough to vote during any given election.

Has anyone ever considered that the main reason Dems win the popular vote but the Repubs win the electoral is because in blue states with huge populations people who'd vote red don't do it because they know it's a waste of time?
