Request came in at the last minute, but what he's asking me to do as network support is pretty simple, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. joined the call about 10 minutes ago. They have to go through a huuuuge checklist for this, lmao. This is probably gonna take a few hours. Great, lol.
At least I probably don't need to do anything. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

How "on-call" do you have to be for this job?I'm not on call right now, but sometimes I have changes I need to do afterhours. My only issue with this is that they don't really need me at all, but since they made an official request and I got assigned to it, here I am. They want network support to have packet captures done if something doesn't work, but they can do packet captures from the server. I explained that, but I'm still not quite sure they understand. I've got my side prepped just in case I absolutely have to do the packet capture with the switch. At this job, I'm on call for 1 week out of every 4 to 5 weeks or so. At my old job, I was the only network guy, so I was on call 24/7/365. It was OK at first, but the company exploded in size in just a few years and it got to be unmanageable. --- ... I noticed since Covid, i'm basically on call 24/7 as well. I still have my days off and I don't even check in with shit unless servers are involved. But other than that my phone still never stops.
