I stopped at the Circle K to get a drink, I park near some dude who's sitting next to the ice bag cooler at the front of the store to the side a bit and clearly intoxicated.

I go in grab my drinks then come out to see 2 Jefferson Parish cops roughing him up and then threaten to crack his skull on the concrete after roughing him up some more, throwing cuffs on him aggressively, and dragging him to a squad car over by a pump

Worse was I couldn't move because one of the cops was parked behind me and I had to sit and watch all that unfold, it was so surreal yo

They were unnecessarily rough and violent with him. He was a drunk 20 some thing who could barely function, not some hardcore criminal

My mind is an open book, do you find it entertaining? At least be original in your responses then.

Why was he out in front of the circle k drunk barely functional? Was he walking on his way or just chillin? That's weird. I can see why the store would have alerted the police, or why if they saw him they would have stopped.

Maybe you're right they treated him unnecessarily, but you don't know, you didn't see the start of the interaction. Like I said, sounds like you didn't see much. Them approaching would have been warranted, weird drunk young guy loitering in front of a gas station. What we don't know is how he responded when they approached. Maybe they just started kicking his ass. But you don't know. You didn't see what happened, only the end of the interaction.

Wouldn't surprise me that cops were just assholes, but the situation you described was weird in the first place, so it wouldn't surprise me had it gone the other way where he responded negatively to their approach.

I don't know your city. I can tell you cops are assholes just about everywhere in America. But from your description, it wasn't like there was some perfect citizen walking down the street who was accosted for no reason. That does happen, but it's not what you described. It was some young guy barely functional either drinking on drugs, where he shouldn't be. Does that mean he deserved what happened? Maybe not, probably not. But you and I can't say that, you weren't there to see what happened.

Your topic title says police brutality, but the substance of your post is just here say.

There was this homeless bum in front of CVS asking for money, so someone called the cops on him. When they showed up, he kept saying he would leave and go home and the cops kept telling him he was lying. Finally they tackled him and put him in their cop SUV, while people kept going in and out of the store, minding their own business, not one phone out.

So I was thinking about it (idk why my messages got modded whatever), and usually I hate the police. I think they protect criminals, I despise them.

There's this auditor I like, James Freeman, he posted a video yesterday which I was watching:
https://youtu.be/By3VXA6ZSxE

And in it, he gets arrested for disorderly conduct. They say he was being disorderly in a CPS building, he says he was simply asking them questions and they didn't like it.

I like a lot of his videos, but I didn't like that one, cause he didn't film the initial interaction with CPS that they claim was disorderly. He only starts filming once he's accosted by the officers. I didn't like it cause I couldn't judge for myself if he actually was being disorderly, he says he wasn't (and he was let off of all charges and free to go).

That's how I felt reading this topic. I was just trying to be objective, the situation did sound a little weird. But honestly, cops are routinely assholes, so the chances of cops being assholes, or that guy blown out of his mind, honestly it was probably the cops first. By trying to play advocate for pure objectivity, I guess my comments looked like I was siding with them. That's not what I was trying to get at TC, so I apologize for making the argument in the first place. I mean, I think I had a sound argument, but it was for the wrong reasons. So yeah, fuck the fucking cops

My post has since been restored, the moderation overturned. But, I stand that I don't want to defend police unless it's literally the most obvious example of them being correct. This isn't.

if he tried to help. that is interfering with a peace officer. likely would've ended up beaten and bruised just like that other guy.
