I remember when Nintendo was estimating lifetime sales, just before it launched, and they said something like 100 million, and after the Wii U flopping, everybody laughed their asses off. Now, 100 million looks achievable (if not more).

The console is now partway through its fourth year. Quite far along. If I had to guess, I'd say it will have a lifespan of six years, at which point its successor will come out.
