All of them have been Empire related so far, mostly about characters I already knew.
Somehow, they made me more sympathetic towards these Empire "villains" that I have only ever seen portrayed as absolute villains. Thrawn made me quickly like Thrawn and Pryce as individuals and now Tarkin is already given me a new respect for Wilhuff. More and more I keep realizing that the Star Wars canon is not as black and white on good and evil as Lucas tried to pretend in the movies... I only ever read the two Anakin books between Episodes 1 and 2 of the old EU, now Legends, canon.
