I keep saying that the show is terrible after Pain, but this War arc has been great so far.

that and it feels kinda tacked on. The Naruto hype train was in full force so Kishimoto was forced to continue the series. A short arc wrapping all the loose ends after the Pain arc wouldve been a great way to end things, and looking back, the setup was there for it, that was obviously the plan. For reference, the War Arc is more than half the total episodes of Shippuden

I didn't mind it, but I read the manga rather than watch the anime, so I'm not sure if things differed.

I did see some parts that were expanded on, though, that looked pretty cool, IMO.

I read the manga as well so I dont know about filler... but it was waaaaay too long.

Also Ill try to say my biggest complaints without spoilers... but some outrageous out of nowhere power ups, some outrageous out of nowhere never been mentioned before in the series villains... and power scaling finally caught up to the series. Just becomes a DBZ clone, whoever can fire the biggest beam wins

People just got salty.

Although the filler is absurd. I read it instead and didn't watch most of it, but literally more than half the show is filler, and a lot of it is backloaded. Anothe guy said there were 3 months of filler, but it was actually much more. One year had less than 10 canon episodes, and it came out every week

Most of the people who dislike it were watching/reading it week to week. I was there...I admit it was kind of a slog for some of it, but once it gets ramped up, it ramps up hard and has some truly badass stuff.

Because it's like 1/3 of the series and it involves characters no one cares about for a good chunk of it.

I guess the big question is, "How far have you gotten?"

Because there are some parts that are slow, but they're mostly in the beginning. If you're liking the early parts, you'll probably like the latter half even more.

This is how I was. I'm the kind of person who gets attached to the whole story and all the characters. Not every episode has to be about the main group. Sometimes you have to remind the audience that Sai exists.

Going at your own pace definitely helps. It's rough when you have to wait for the next chapter or episode. Sometimes you're hyped up for what comes next, but it takes 2 more episodes for anything to happen

It also helps when you're not hanging out on the Naruto board in between every chapter while everybody's bitching about the story and having topics about whether or not Itachi can genjutsu a literal boulder.

Because there's a bunch of characters nobody related to, ever. Also it's quite long and has tons of filler.

Same is going on with Boruto. So many generic characters being introduced, sometimes it's like a "case of the week" thing. Something happens, they get called to some village nobody even heard of, there are some troublemakers, they deal with them, they go back to Konoha.

Rinse and repeat every few months.

Choji is such a badass. He's one of the most underrated characters. You think he's a joke because he's the fat guy who's always eating, then he fights Jirobo in part 1 and just...fuck yeah.

ive also been working my way through the war arc (298 rn) and its awesome. not seeing the issues so far

There is a long fuckin way to go if you are just now at Itachi showing up lol

The nostalgia battles with the resurrected fighters are probably the best part of the war arc, once you get to the final showdown against Tobi it goes down hill IMO.

I still enjoyed it though, I never agreed with the hate

People exaggerate. No matter how much the focus shifts to Naruto or Sasuke, it's never as severe as DBZ with Goku and Vegeta.

I cried a lot watching Naruto the first time. And I still cry a lot in Part 1, especially during all the Gaara stuff. I watched Part 2 in Japanese, mostly, so there wasn't as much visceral emotion involved because I was reading rather than listening...but still, it's got so much good stuff.

Naruto is my favorite anime series of all time. That's why it's in my sig.

It's full of asspulls, retcons, padding, plotholes, logical inconsistencies, plot induced stupidity, wasted characters, power creep, etc.

So just your average Shonen. If you just like flashy shit devoid of substance, then you'll enjoy this arc.

Watching like a highlight reel of the war arc is not so bad, but yeah just watching it all is a ton of posturing and nonsense. But I'd say some of the more quality scenes have come out of it, like Might Guy's battle, and most of Kakashi's scenes were really good

Reminder to be careful of spoilers. Nothing beats some of the twists and turns of the war arc when you don't see them coming.

The hardest?I have no idea. I guess maybe meeting his mom? His popsicle after Jiraiya's death was hard as well. Both of Asume's deaths hit me hard. Granny. .the old lady with the puppets, her death made me cry a lot. Especially when Naruto told her to use some of his energy to help bring him back.

OMG, don't even get me started on the brother battle and he find out the truth

Naruto gets a bad reputation online, but it's honestly so, so fucking good. Shonen cliches notwithstanding, it's very well made. Great music, some of the best battles in anime history, a metric ton of memorable characters, a beautifully crafted world with a rich history that gives a really good picture of a society with a long, brutal period of wars, etc. etc.

I really really love it.
