The only real answer someone gave me is MJOLNRVII who told me that not all of GameFaqs is on CE. So that makes sense and actually gives an answer to my actual question

Im a big fan of ascendant step but I wonder how it would work in the game

I like the Pact of the Chain invocation that lets you perceive through your familiar's senses indefinitely -- Voice of the Chain Master I think. summon it as a bat, let it sit on your head, suddenly you have 60 foot blindsight

Repelling Blast + Agonizing Blast are really good for keeping enemies away (if you get Polearm Master, Warcaster, and Crossbow Expert, and you wield a quarterstaff, then you can really have some fun)

generally speaking, I like the invocations that let you cast spells without spending warlock slots. I generally don't think they should require slots to cast. Mask of Many Faces is great. Master of Myriad Forms is even better depending on the situation (and I believe it can be used to give yourself a swim speed)

that being said, Polymorph is such a useful spell that Sculptor of Flesh is worth it even at the cost of a slot

Early Access on Tuesday. First part of the game, around 20-25 hours. But with a game like this an all the choices you can easily play it again and again. Hell, Ill probably spend 10 hours just making characters like I already do on D&D Beyond

Yeah, main guy is the one I talked about in my opening post. He cant talk thanks to having a tentacle for a tongue (trait from my patron) but I can communicate with my mind. Im not going to be a huge caster with it, and the ones I do use with my psychic power or tentacle ones.

Im the eyes of the group and the sneaky assassin.

if you want some fun stuff, the swashbuckler rogue's 9th level feature has excellent synergy with GoO's telepathy

New Community Update focused on character creation. It looks amazing already.

Oh boy, do we have SURPRISES for you when you finally start the game. But were not going to spoil those. Well be expanding Early Access content throughout the campaign and have quite a few extra things up our sleeves, but since this update is about Early Access, well cover those later.

Yeah, that looks great. I would buy it early if it was just making characters and doing 1 or 2 missions, let alone 20 hours of gameplay. I'm so very excited for this game. I've been building characters on Beyond all day.

Why can't I pre order? I want to at least pre order and get it before I forget. I'm excited and I want to play but there's no option to preorder but I guess if there isn't, it won't matter...just I like to pre install so I don't have to wait too long.

oh yeah and if you have something like Cloud of Daggers set up, Repelling Blast/Grasp of Hadar can be great bang for your buck

You're buying the full game. So everything will be included in the price you pay now. And like someone posted, they're going to update and add more to the game as they work on it

I played BG 2 dozens of times and I was mostly a cavalier paladin or a ranger (mostly went pally, Carsomyr was so fucking good). No Paladin in EA is a bummer, and I heard Ranger is really bad in 5e? I suppose I could be a more martially bent Cleric, but Clerics just don't have the same Chad energy that Paladins do. IDK I'll probably go Ranger and hope it isn't bad as it seems.

@IronWolf87 Rangers are fine, it's just that Assassins do their job better, at least from the Player's Handbook. However, they have some things in this game from other sources for 5e, so maybe we'll get a good sub-class for them from one of those other places. So instead of only having Hunter or Beastmaster, we might be able to have Gloomstalker or Monster Slayer. Hunter and Beast Master are not all that great

The first time I loaded it up yesterday I got through character creation and when you finish your character it asks you who you dream about and has you select a race for what I'm assuming will be a love interest. I clicked to change it from a woman to a man and the game crashed. That was an amusing report to fill out.

Finally got it running playably. Still not great but enough to push forward

even early on this is some of the best wrpg combat in years
