The comics are edgy for the sake of being edgy. They go seriously over the top and it gets to the point where it's tiresome

I skipped over all of that extra stuff. The only one of those that gets mentioned a few times in the main story is herogasm, so I guess you should check it out. According to Wikipedia, it takes place after issue 30

I don't know it has been my sig for years.

And full Ennis is being edgy for the sake of being edgy. Occasionally Preacher had issues with this. Punisher probably should have but it was played so serious that it worked. But The Boys embraces the edgy and revels in it. It is not appealing.

Gross and miserable. It makes the show look very tame in comparison. I think it works for the most part though. The show tries to humanize the supes and make it seem like even though they do messed up stuff theyre not completely irredeemable. The comic is more like these guys are evil. Fuck em. So its more black and white and which makes it feels so satisfying when The Boys take on supes. Plus they focus on other heroes besides The Seven so the arcs feel more interesting and theres more variation. I will admit though that a lot of the supes have similar horrible secrets so by the end of the series you get a little tired of it

Ok this intro is a little different

Dear Becky is an epilogue type series that takes place years after the main story. The titles like "herogasm" and "superduper" are just a reference to the story arc in that book. The files should have the book number in the title, so use that for the order.

Some parts of the comic are excellent, others were like the edgy weird guy at school who used to make up horrible, horrible shit for fun just to be all edgy and grim dark.

Its a real curates egg.

Im enjoying the tv show a little bit more, though.

Comic Starlight basically started as a joke character, but then Ennis had a rare moment of self-awareness and realized that "superheroine who is constantly sexually assaulted and degraded was in poor taste, even for him." The show decided to largely pass in Ennis's initial interpretation.

This is the exact moment I knew I loved this comic. It's incredibly childish and dumb, but I fucking loved it

I kind of feel like Maeve is treated even worse. (don't read this TC) Throughout the whole series it seems like she's complicit in all the evil acts while not doing much of anything, then it's implied 3/4ths of the way through that she might be on the Boy's side, but might also just be playing both sides, building up for when she finally makes a big move in the story. Then at the tail end of the story when she finally reveals she's on the Boy's side the only thing she manages to do is get Starlight to safety before she is one-shot by Homelander off-screen without ever showing off any combat prowess.

The female characters in general aren't treated that well on hindsight. The Female barely had any personality and never talked besides her final words and iirc her backstory was covered much less than the others.

Let's recap:

Homelander tears off the emergency hatch, immediately sucking an 8 year old into the void. Homelander ignores his mother's desperate pleas for her now dead child. The people panic. Homelander gets annoyed with people not wanting to die, so he yells so loud he explodes everyone's eardrums, leaving them all writing in their own blood

He realizes the deep fucked up and destroyed the windshield, destabilizing the cockpit. Calls the deep the N-word twice, turns everyone in the cockpit to mist, then heads out of the cabin back to the deck. Decides "fuck it, let's leave"

Backhands maeve across the plane. Jumps out, the team speedster Marathon Man desperately grabs Homelander. Homelander threatens to kill Marathon Man but relents and decides to try to steer the plane. He hits the tail too hard and snaps it off completely. The plane goes down right into the brooklyn bridge, killing over a thousand. Also, when he hit the tail it decapitated Marathon Man

Huh, you're right. I must've sped read it from chapter 50 to the end or something. I thought this came after the next arc though. I'm warning you, the next one is a doozy. Might want to mentally prepare yourself. I found it to be the grimmest arc.
