assuming its a top loading machine.....do you fill the machine with soap and water first then add the clothes? or do you add the clothes with the soap and then turn on the water? what is your style?

The washing machine can't be opened during operation, so clothes go in first with the soap in a compartment and I have no idea when the machine uses it.

front loader, i completely ignore the soap dish because it was designed specifically to cause mold buildup and leak. instead i dump soap on a rag or some clothing before loading everything and starting the wash.
