Same as before - you don't have to maintain your current lifestyle or your area of residence unless you want to. Could you retire if you get an extra $1,000,000 (tax free) dropped into your bank account tomorrow?

On the condition that this is plus one million, and not just net worth == 1 million, definitely

Slap all that money into the s&p 500, live off 5% per year, and theoretically your net worth should keep up with inflation

50k/ year including paying for rent, food, health insurance, etc should be doable

Probably not. I have health issues that might eat into the principal, and over the years I might go broke. Better to keep working with benefits.
