Hawaii is lifting the 14 day quarantine restrictions in October, so long as you test negative for Covid 72 hours before. My 91 year old grandma is part of a timeshare program but shes too old to use it so she gives out her time to family. She offered us a week in Kauai in December (all that was available). We just have to pay for flights and food.

Given its a direct flight from LA to the island, which means pretty much everyone will have tested negative on the plane, I feel pretty good about going. The timeshare is on the north part of the island and has its own kitchen and washer/dryer. So we dont have to go out to eat all the time.

Maybe we are crazy. But its hard to pass up a free stay in Kauai. If you had the same deal, would you take it?

Of course we will be canceling if its looking bad and we already confirmed with the company that they would issue a full refund.

Screw it, I'd go. We might be going to Universal/disney ourselves dis December depending on da situation but as long as you're extra careful of course and take alcohol wipes and hand sanitizer, wear mask, keep away from people, etc

Yeah my mom recently traveled here from Canada (to help take care of said grandma) and said its the cleanest shes ever seen flights. They hand out hand sanitizers, disinfect everything, space people out, etc. Though we will bring all our own stuff as well as a precaution.

Im excited to go!

i would probably risk it because i loved hawaii so much. flight from LAX isnt too bad, get an N95 for the flight and you'll most likely be fine

What island do you like best? We love Hawaii too. Havent been since our honeymoon over 6 years ago. I personally prefer Oahu slightly over Kauai, and Kauai a lot more than Maui. I wasnt a huge fan of Maui but maybe because it was super packed when we went.

Lol one of my friends is low key judging me for it. She went on a two day road trip to pick up a puppy from a breeder because she didnt want to risk flying.

I went to Kauai two years ago, it's fucking beautiful so I'd say do it. Be prepared to see chickens literally everywhere you go :P

Yes I remember the chickens lol. I love Kauai. Its so serene and peaceful. I cant wait and hope things dont go to shit before

IIRC I think it was because a number of years ago, an illegal cock fighting ring was shut down and they just let all the chickens roam free

I went to Maui and it was amazing, loved the beaches and driving the road to Hana was such a cool experience

We did road to Hana too. But it was sooo packed that it took away some of the magic. Maybe we should try again during a slower season (I believe we went in June)

I'd like Hana a lot more if it didn't take all damn day. Interesting trip but I'd rather fuck around on the mountain than bother with Hana again.
