I was there for like 9 hours just waiting and they drew my blood 3 times.

First time they did it then came back 2 hours later and said they put it in the wrong container whatever that means so they had to do it again

Second time they did it ( This was a hot Asian chick) they came back and said "they did it wrong "

I mean isn't drawing blood like 1st month medschool? I can draw blood if you give me the shit, your body does like 96% of the work

Then the 3rd time they came up to me and said "Well good news is do far your blood work is fine" and I was like "so far?" and they said "yeah they are only about 30% done."

and it's like why bother telling me that if it's not finished yet?

Imagine getting a call from your mechanic saying "good news so far, your car Is fine, haven't checked the engine tho"

Bad news I get but good news doesn't need a "so far" and then it turns out hypothetically I got Lupus or something (I dont have Lupus)

Not to mention I saw like 7 different doctors and was moved to about 5 different rooms for no apparent reason

it was a disorganized clusterfuck and it wasn't even busy.

Sorry that was poor wording on my part. I dont have Lupus.

My point is what does it matter if it's good "so far" if you end up having something serious?

Lol at thinking American doctors are any better. It's basically exactly like this but at the end of you have a 20,000 dollar bill.

That's the healthcare system, not your doctor

Universal Healthcare is superior to pure private insurance based but on a one to one comparison US doctors are so much more skilled and professional

I've spent a lot of time in various American hospitals with family members. Some are so poorly organized that it's surprising more people don't die due to their fuckups. But the more reputable ones are excellent.

Man doctors in the US are just as bad, the only difference is here afterwards they hand you a bill for $10k

I had a girlfriend who went to the ER with severe lower back pain near her kidneys, and the ER doc listened to her talk about her pain, where it was coming from, how severe it was, left the room for a bit, came back and said so you reported having just sort of general aches and pains all over your body, it sounds like you just have the flu have her some fucking Advil and sent her on her way. Obviously it later turned out she had a kidney infection that had spread from her urinary tract. Doctors dont listen to people. Especially women. And, statistically, it gets much worse for non-white people.

This so much! I had to go to three doctors to be diagnosed with something relatively common that is often comorbid with an existing condition. It took me months to get a diagnosis, and all the while I could have dropped dead from at any time. The bills were astronomical and the care completely questionable.

Not criticizing. Did you say something to her about it?

She was sticking sharp objects into my incredibly bored body to remove parts of me. Wasn't exactly the start of a romance so no I didn't say she was a hot potato and smack her ass.

She asked me what blood group I was. I asked her out of curiousity what blood type she was, she corrected me saying "It's blood group not blood type." then said she didn't know.

Then we both joked about a doctor not knowing what their own blood type is and how it's a kinda useful thing to know.

Then she left with my blood and later someone else turned up and said she fucked it up somehow.

American here. This is from over 10 years ago, but I went on a camping trip out in the middle of nowhere as part of a bachelor party. I drove out there with a friend. We all got hammered, had a lot of fun, and drove back home the following day. About a week later, my friend that I drove down there called me - he was pretty concerned because hed been having some breakouts on his skin. He went and got it checked out and his doctor said he had shingles, which is rare for someone as young as we were at the time. Prescribed him medication and gave him some tips to ease the symptoms.

A few days later was the wedding for the wedding (for the bachelor party wed gone to). My friend called the bride to tell her he couldnt make it because he had shingles. The bride (who is a registered nurse) started laughing and told him You dont have shingles, you have poison ivy... half of you idiots that went on that camping trip came down with it. And just to rub it in a bit more, that friend had an eye doctor appointment a few days later, and the eye doctor commented to him Man, thats a bad case of poison ivy you got.

By the way, the recommendations to ease shingles symptoms are also ways to make poison ivy worse. So the docs diagnosis was wrong and his recommendations were worsening the poison ivy. Needless to say, my friend ditched that doctor.

I heard a fucked up doctor story, this girl had a problem with the rods in her leg/ankle due to an ankle injury 4 years prior. The doctor wouldn't even bother to check it, despite that she was getting pus rejections to the rods. She got surgery to remove the rods and can walk again, but she got fired from her job as a result.

In Canada, I went to get a routine blood check at a new place that opened up.

In line I preemptively approached the counter before the lady was "ready" for me (she was just standing there so..), she didnt like that.

Finally I get into a cubicle. Despite not doing it for anyone else, this woman takes it upon herself to take my blood.

She fuckin purposely jabbed the thing in on an angle, my dudes I've never felt anything that whack from a procedure that's supposed to be safe.

Arm was bruised for 3 weeks.

American doctors can suck just as much. I waited for an hour once to figure out what was up with these weird skin lesions I had. Doctor barked at me from across the room that it was ringworm without examining it or doing any tests. $150 to get an (ultimately incorrect) diagnosis and a prescription for an expensive cream that could only be made in their pharmacy.

Had a similar experience where I had a felon infection on my index finger. Two visits (at about $150 each), a lancing, and a prescription for Keflex later it started to get better. It swelled up so much that my cuticle detached and still looks crooked to this day (like five years later). It should have been lanced/drained the first time. Also, fun fact, pain in your fingers is extremely intense. I'm a grown ass man and having it pressed like that made me cry.

Speaking of good experiences though, has anyone here even seen a podiatrist? I walked into the clinic last year with an infected toe, not knowing what was wrong. 30 minutes later I was walking out with 9 toenails, problem solved. I've never had such a fast and productive medical experience before.

They can't deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. I think they used to be able to but Obama changed that. They can't really reverse it now as it would be massively unpopular.
