Nope, it's for the Jaguar. A console no one had with no good games. It had a CD adapter that, unlike the Genises, plugged in the cartridge slot and resembled a toilet.
Hey man, don't you go talking shit about the jaguar and it's hit games with classics like......missile command 3D and like, zool. I will have you know that zool was on the same level of like, bubsy the cat and aero the acrobat, so give him some respect!

The duke still isn't as bad as the Saturn controller. A massive size controller with no real way to grasp it. If I'm picking one other than that, the 3D0 controller was a bit of a nightmare as well, it was fairly decently laid out, but the buttons really felt off when you try to push them.

Have you actually played on a Saturn? That controller is super easy to hold. It literally has handles on the back.

I still say the N64 controller was amazing for games that were designed for it.

a fighting game is terrible on it, but Banjo, Mario, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Goldeneye (at the time), Zelda this controller was awesome
Its not so much the design of the controller that makes it bad, its the god awful quality of the analog stick. No matter how gentle you were with it, it WILL eventually have plastic particles all over the stick's area because it will scrap against the sides, and then it will eventually not be able to read inputs completely. Finally, it will become loose.

It also did not help that there was a good bit of games made for it that had you rotate the analog stick as fast as you can, which was hell on that flimsy analog stick. (Mario party, and if your friends decided to be cheesy, the wcw nwo world tour/wwf wrestlemania/no mercy games, lol).

^THIS fucking abomination.
I own 24 different consoles and that Atari Jaguar controller is the fucking worst.
To compare it to other console controllers that have been mentioned, when the CD-i was rebranded as a video game console in 1994 (when it came out during 1991 with the "wand remote", it was branded as a multi-media device where while it did have a FEW games, but was NOT focused on games and the few games it did have could use that wand remote thing since they were more menu / point and click driven games. It wasn't till 1994 when someone brand new at Phillips took over the CD-i and rebranded it as a video game console and released more traditional video games on it like platformers, brawlers, etc. I even have the CD-i magazines from the 90's explaining this) the 1994 CD-i's that looked like consoles had these controllers which looked like three button Genesis controllers and they are wonderful and were ultra comfortable to use.

The 5200 controller, when it wants to work (WHEN it wants to work. LOL), is actually an excellent controller. Yes, you have to get use to the fact that it uses analog for it's stick, but once you do it's pretty good (aside from worrying whether the stupid thing is going to fail on you and you have to take it apart and clean it to get it to work again). Bottomline, it's pretty good when it works.

The Intellivision controller, while awkward as hell at first, is actually really good once you get use to it.

Nintendo 64's controller kicked ass. It looks weird, but it was comfortable and nice.

The Sega Saturn 3D controller is awesome!!!

But that mother fucking Atari Jaguar controller? Here's the problem with it: the D-pad SUCKS because it's incredibly hard on your thumb and it fucking HURTS your thumb. This is not noticeable in some games, but try playing a game that requires a lot of rapid, split second movements and you WILL feel the pain in your thumb. It's NOT a fun controller to hold after a while either. I ended up spending close to $100 on the six button pro Atari Jaguar controller (where the D-pad is noticeably improved) because of how horrible the three button Jaguar controller is. Also, the six button controller has six face buttons and left and right shoulder buttons which makes playing games far easier (as oppose to the three button controller where some of the commands are on the stupid number pad and it's a pain in the ass to look down and press a button down there while in the heat of battle).

This is the only correct answer.
Some people in this topic don't know what an Atari Jaguar console is, so allow me to quickly explain. Atari Jaguar (with it's shitty thumb destroying controller above) came out during holiday season 1993 and ended during very early 1996 and was a "64-bit" console which at best could put out 32-bit looking games and most of it's games were lazy 16-bit ports from the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo and while it had a FEW really awesome games, the majority of it's games sucked ass and this would end up being Atari's final console since it only sold an abysmal 250,000 units (it didn't even comes close to breaking one million). It was destroyed by the original Playstation during holiday season 1995 for damn good reason.
This is an example of some of it's better games. While these games are awesome, that Jaguar controller sucks ass. They released a new six button controller with an improved D-pad that didn't destroy your thumb during late holiday season 1995, but by then the console was dying a well deserved fiery death.

Alien vs Predator (this game kicks ass and shows off what the Jaguar hardware could do when properly utilized and is exclusive):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7_IF_ZvqR8

Doom (Jaguar had the best console version of Doom during it's time):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCMwHgvq9Ro

Jaguar was awesome when it came to first person shooters. Too bad the original three button controller sucked.

@The_Popo

That six button Atari Jaguar controller is 100 billion times superior to the original shitty Atari Jaguar controller. The D-pad on that six button controller is pretty good (unlike the thumb destroying D-pad the original three button controller had). Also, the six buttons makes fighting games on the Jaguar far more fun and the two left and right shoulder buttons on that six button controller made strafing in first-person shooters on Jaguar like Alien vs Predator a hell of a lot better. So yeah, if one wants a controller for the Jaguar, that's the controller to get since it's a good controller that improves gameplay and doesn't send you to the hospital for a fucked up thumb. It's worth the expensive price.

@pfh1001

You are suppose to hold the Nintendo 64 controller in a certain way depending on what type of game you are playing. If for EXAMPLE you are playing a first-person shooter like Golden Eye, then you hold it the way seen in the first pic below (and there is the "Z Trigger" underneath which makes it easy for one's pointer finger to use it like a gun trigger, which was perfect for first person shooters).

If one is playing a fighting type game like, for EXAMPLE, a wrestling game (WWF No Mercy, WCW / NWO Revenge, etc) you hold the controller like the third / last picture below.

Some other games gave the option of using the way the controller is held in the middle second pic below (the Turok games gave players that optional control scheme to play their games in that way).

The Nintendo 64 controller was VERY COMFORTABLE and EASY to use if you used it in the correct way for whatever game you were playing. Most Instruction manuals and some games that had in-game tutorials or had the controls listed in an in-game menu would show how to hold the N-64 controller for their game.

Im not defending the design (its a weird one, for sure), but I have pretty big hands, so Id always hold the controller like this, at all times. When Id use the analog, my thumb would just slide over to it.

It never even dawned on me when I first got the N64 to hold the middle part to use the analog.

They're tiny, have tiny buttons/sticks, the buttons/sticks are extremely close together, and they don't have the grip part that literally every controller since the 64 has had which is hella uncomfortable. It baffles me that they thought people would want to play multiplayer with one of those things when they suck even when you get to use both attached to the Switch.
