Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

a nomination for Amara was basically a nomination for God as far as I can tell. not much anybody who is non-meta can do about that

The Darkness [Amara] is the most powerful being in existence. Her release prompted God to hide out in what He dubbed "the safest place ever created" so He could be safe from her. Even after withstanding a combined but sequential attack by powerful witches, every angel in Heaven, demons, and Lucifer, she still proved to be stronger than her brother [God] when she stopped Him from imprisoning her and overpowered Lucifer at the same time, before fatally wounding her brother, all before fully regenerating and walking away. Hours later after reconciling with her brother, she healed the damage her nigh-omnipotent powers did to Him with no effort. [...]

Despite her near-infinite might, Amara can be effectively bound or even killed, though it takes a enormous amount of combined power to do so. It took the combined power of all four archangels to weaken her enough for God to bind her, and even then victory was barely achieved. Chuck did mention that a massive amount of light, equivalent to 10,000 suns set to supernova, could potentially destroy her.

What's Magneto's best showing against a cosmic entity?

God doesn't seem that tough to fight, he lost to a tag team with Shane McMahon on it even with Shawn Michaels helping him. I'd imagine Lucifer's pretty equal back-up.

Well, he beat Proteus with no effort by shoving him out of his host body (somehow) and then dispersing him. He beat all of the Avengers at once (including Thor) by making their blood run backwards. He took control of a Celestial by moving inside of it and just controlling the entire thing with magnetism

And this isn't getting into his other nonsense like reversing the polarity of the entire Earth and popping wormholes out of nowhere

Not really feeling Magnus here but not voting yet. A Celestial is merely a middle tier reality warper. Beating the catholic god would require something more on the level of standing toe to toe with Eternity or a similar entity. Has he ever done it?
