Has anyone seen this documentary on Netflix? It's a somewhat insightful view on how social media uses your data and its tactics to keep us addicted to it. I know I get picked on for being the enlightened centrist here, which is a title I don't really like since its meant in mockery, but near the end they do discuss a bit how social media has increased political polarization among the Left and Right with confirmation biases and misinformation. I would definitely encourage everyone to watch it!

I've heard this show is kinda terrible? like it mythologizes silicon valley culture while simultaneously failing basic historical and sociological context which in turn reinforces biased, discriminatory tech ideology?

I'm not sure how that take was created from that. The vast majority of the documentary was providing insight on some of the tactics social media companies like Facebook and Google use to keep us addicted and even moreso to persuade us to behave in certain ways.

I'd personally recommend viewing it.

all the people interviewed are former employees of Google, Facebook, etc, which should give at least some level of credence to what they are saying.

I watched it a while ago. Been saying what ive been saying for years. Over a decade at this point. Glad to see more are finally learning how much societal stagnation, bitterness, anxiety, anger, etc social media has caused.
