Bands newer than 10 years old are automatically disqualified for the best song ever.
First of all, to even meet the criteria of "Best song ever" your song has to outlive the band breaking up by at least 20 years. That puts your song in the "silvered" category. To move up to gold, you'll need to have all the silver's stuff plus you've got to have at least 8 songs that have hit number 1, helped push out more than 25m albums, and your singer must NOT be dead. For diamond status, you must have all the above, plus you STILL have to be one of the top songs playing TODAY and your singer has to be DEAD. Otherwise, you cannot qualify for best song of all time.
