They're so big because of global warming, and fires are so goddamn common right now on the west coast that it's clear this shit would be happening even if they didn't start it. I do think that they shouldn't be jailed considering they've been cooperative with the police and they have a baby on the way. I'm not related to them. I'm actually related to people displaced by the fire, and am in danger of being displaced myself. My hometown is one of the evacuation zones, though thankfully still only level one. I'm also not referring to any specific ones. I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished or fined, not even saying the punishment shouldn't be stiff. I'm just saying I don't agree with charging them for the entire extent of the fire, when it's extremely clear that these fires would be a problem right now even if they hadn't been idiots.The conditions are so bad that it's pretty much guaranteed major fires would've happened, and they aren't responsible for the conditions.
