Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

In the Expanded Universe/Legends canon, Luke:

• fights in combat with a nanosecond reaction speed
• uses a lightsaber so fast his movements become blurred
• flings Darth Caedus (a very powerful Sith) across a room and holds him in place with no visible exertion
• uses Fold Space, a teleportation skill
• uses Electric Judgment, a "blinding tangle of energy" capable of killing a Yuuzhan Vong Slayer, warriors whose only purpose is to kill Jedi; he takes on groups of these very powerful warriors at once

He can also walk across lava, rebuild Darth Vader's entire fortress with the Force (and then destroy it), pilots the Millennium Falcon by himself (this is normally a three-person job), etc.

JUST KIDDING retract Zenobia vote i don't know anything about them. Movie Luke is waaaay weaker than Legends Luke, and we don't ever really see him at his peak as a Jedi Master, but he's still not bad.

Also I suspect we'll be having a similar conversation when Maxwell comes up >_>;

tbh I completely forgot what Zenobia can do besides 'wind', and google is not being very helpful

Yeah, she's not a very major character. She's one of the strongest named blades in Xenoblade 2, probably the strongest random one I think. I was just nominating a bunch of windy characters so here she is.

Anyway, the point of his nomination was "Movies character <almost> everybody knows well" which wouldn't work with EU stuff

Luke

It's hard to give any respect to a random unknown character, and we can consider the height of Luke's power in considering the ability to reach across PLANETS to create a projection. (regardless of the fact that the movies 7-9 are complete trash)

Even without people knowing the full book lore and the like, it's fairly easy to extrapolate things in from what he did in the movies, and what powers a Jedi has.

here's what google says about Zenobia:
- she loves fighting STRONG ENEMIES
- in her personal quest, she's bored due to the party not fighting strong enough enemies, and she releases the seals on an ancient beast. the party fights it, but can't out-damage its regeneration, so Zenobia just punts it into the distance, Team Rocket-style. (strength feat!)
- also she can fly and teleport. (although the teleport is very telegraphed, it's preceded by a couple seconds of tornado where she's going to appear)

That's a dumb side quest anyway, because you can do it at the end of the game, and by that point you have multiple characters with much better storyline feats than what Zenobia shows. Like there's no way I'm buying that Pneuma couldn't handle that thing.

Luke has powerful telepathy and precognition. If Zenobia tries to teleport, he'll likely know where she'll be. Luke can erect a Force barrier that would probably be able to handle a lot of what Zenobia tries. And I don't know what her durability is like, but most things can't handle getting sliced in two with a lightsaber.
