One time I was playing Mario Party 1. There was a mini-game called Tug-o-war and the hints section told me to rotate the joystick with the palm of my hand for maximum effort. The skin on my palm burned off and I was feeling the pain for weeks.

I was playing fighting games (Tekken) so long (was on a 50 game win streak) in the arcades my wrists were basically dead and my hands didn't work for half an hour. (joystick)

Another time, different fighting game (Tobal), my left thumb got a literal blister while my thumb muscle (the big one between the thumb and hand) was on fire. (but it felt kinda good)

Scraped my finger about a month ago while swinging a melee weapon in a VR game.

One time, I got mad at how unfun it was to fight a boss with super-armor. So I turned on a cheat that gave me infinite health and energy and picked a character that had the ability to instantly block attacks at full health.

I then stubbornly suffered through trying to kill the boss (they kept killing my trash allies, the instant block had the effect of making your only decently damaging move worthless because a single punch would smack you out of it and I was too tilted to bother turning it off).

It was basically the video game equivalent of angrily trying to tear down a brick wall by smashing your head into it and I could feel the kind of brain hemorrhaging you'd expect.

As a kid I was playing Ninja Gaiden 1 sitting in a flimsy chair. I got so pissed I flew back and the back of the chair broke and I fell and busted the back of my head open a bit.

I still have no idea how this happened but back in the SSB Brawl days, I was playing against a friend and I went for a grab (the Z button on the Gamecube controller) and I guess my fingernail landed on the button awkwardly but I broke part of my fingernail and started bleeding a bit.

My friend just laughed at me lol

In Grade 5, I played Super Mario RPG and gave myself a blister that eventually popped and really burned.

"Now Sparta, how the hell do you get a blister playing an RPG game?"

Okay, so here's the deal. There's this minigame of sorts where you use Yoshi to race his blue-skinned equivalent, Boshi and to beat him you have to tap a button to the rhythm of the on-screen sequence. Now Grade 5 me didn't know that and just opted to rapidly slide my thumb across the button over and over again.

The worst part about all this is that not only did I get the blister, but I didn't even win the race because it turns out that spamming didn't exactly help Yoshi run faster.
