There are ways to tell the truth about a pandemic without inciting mass panic. Composure, honesty and an earnest commitment to mitigating the consequences of the pandemic would be the hallmarks of a mature leader.

You're right. There is a way to provide accurate information without causing panic. Unfortunately, a certain someone lacks the communication skills necessary to do that.

telling people that the best practice would be to wear masks, from the get go, wouldn't have caused any more of a panic then what we already had. instead he lied, over and over, about how severe the virus was and how to protect yourself from it. and while people with sense realized how much of a lying sack of shit he was, his supporters ate it up like all the other shit he spews.

and that doesn't even touch on the policy decisions he pushed for, screwing over early preparation and damage mitigation by the state and federal governments, apparently all to 'keep from causing a panic'...

If you saw Angela Merkels press conference back in March(?), thats what hers was like. Theres definitely a middle ground between "lol relax its a hoax" and "omg panic everyone!!!"
