Here I am living in Canada and we don't really have these kinds of issues pop up on the daily like the US does. I honestly have never heard or seen anyone get killed by cops in this country. Europe doesn't seem to have this problem on a consistent basis either. I don't know about Asia. In the US, it's police kills black man on a monthly, school shooting (Although this isn't as common anymore possibly because of covid). and all kinds of other problems. To me from an outsider perspective, it makes it look like the US is burning down. Does it seem this way to other people that live in other countries? I can't be the only one that feels a bit miffed about all the US's problems.

Everywhere has these issues, the question is how often they rear their ugly heads explicitly, and how often they flow below the radar.

Being anxious is part of american culture. The news outlets try to make you anxious and scared, everyone locks their doors and windows every night, everything is bad and scary outside of america

That's how the us govt keeps control

We are, quite specifically and somewhat uniquely, a nation built upon racism and state violence toward the marginalized. We have, as a result, a highly militarized police force, and a near-fascist level of admiration of law and order, even among the supposed left-wing of the countrys political spectrum. So none of the things that happen in America should really be surprising to anyone.

I seem to recall there being a story in the news right around the time the George Floyd stuff started about Canadian police throwing a black woman off of a balcony, so. It may not happen as often or as prominently but its still there.

That's how the us govt keeps control
Y'see, to outsiders, this "control" actually looks a little more like chaos that incompetent or hamfisted bureaucrats and politicians sometimes struggle to contain; and this myth of an omniscient, omnipotent elite of evil geniuses in charge behind the scenes seems to be juxtaposed against a stark, crumbling reality of fumbling mismanagement and careless neglect.

I think these conspiracy fantasies about an all-powerful shadow government give a comforting illusion of control that's more bearable than the fear of a chaotic reality. The scary thought isn't so much that there are unseen forces secretly in charge; it's that really, no one is.

Oh you have those issues in Canada. You're just not as loud about it. There's a rising conservative wing of the country, mostly in the western provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta) and they've been taking notes on how the US does it. They may never get an opportunity like Trump got, but they exist.

Check this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index

Based on a number of factors, the US ranked 128 out of 163 countries in terms of peace. Even South Africa is higher than the US. That's nuts.

Canada is pretty high on the list :)

Politics and religion. I guarantee you if you look deep enough, either one or both of these causes are the roots or enablers of all society's problems.
