Half these places just need you to stock boxes or serve tables. The fuck they need a cover letter for?

Cover letters are great to weed out those who are serious about the job or not... the downside is that it is also very possible that the recruiter won't even bother reading it either. I know my accounting firm reads cover letters and most (if they're total strangers and never bothered to network with any of us) that do take the time to write them have a much higher chance than those that just fills out the application.

I feel for a lot of you guys though, but honestly the best way to get a job is either through contacts or networking. There are a lot of jobs out there that don't even get posted online.

My favorite memory from applying to jobs was uploading the resume, and then filling out a bunch of boxes asking for all the information that is literally in your resume

Yeah, that's total bullshit. I've talked to people in the human resource department and they say it's to make it easier on them just in case if the resume is hard to read. Like if the resume is junk, don't even bother with it and just continue with the next person.

I actually had a delivery job ready but unfortunately my car isn't up to standard so I have to continue my search.

I have my resume updated. I just think cover letters for some of these entry level jobs are ridiculous.
