well, technically, I was pulling for pittsburgh. I've been on the vegas bandwagon mostly for MAF and a general soft spot for expansion teams.

I have no dislike for Dallas or Tampa, and even my dislike for the Isles isn't very strong (at least compared to the other NY team, Philly, Washington and Boston)

just going to enjoy the last handful or two of games while they last, and hope next season comes quickly and safely.

Staal is 35.. I get that they needed a center and he fills that spot, and might remain somewhat productive for 2-3 more seasons. Then what? He's already dropped in production the last two seasons, I don't believe he has another 60+ point season left in the tank. I'm not sure what Buffalo has in their system as far as young centers though.

alright, i just counted.

overtime in elimination games:
3 times in the qualifying round, once in round 1, 4 times in round 2, and now third time in round 3.

that's a lot, right? even with the extra round? it seems like a lot.

alright, i counted the last few seasons.

8+3 so far this year, with potentially 5 more.
6 last year
1 in 2018
5 in 2017.

definitely at least a little high.

don't try to watch the puck directly. it's difficult, if not impossible, and is imo the biggest mistake hockey newbies make. follow the action by watching the players. watch how they act when they have the puck, and when they're trying to take the puck away from the other team.

Ha ha ha, this is easier said than done for a newbie. I would add that listening to the play by play guy is very important for a newbie. The only positions that you really need to differentiate between as a newbie is the goalie and the players. But to make it a little easier for you as well. There is a center, left wing, right wing(all three of these are the forwards) and two defense. You kind of just watch the play, the puck does move fast but once you get a hang of it it becomes a lot easier to tell who has the puck and thats really what your trying to watch.
