But given the context of what the role meant to people and the circumstances of his passing, replacing him may not go over well. I'd hope there was some talk with Marvel, should the worst happen, but I don't know. The higher ups had to have known something about his condition, given the medical and insurance stuff required. But he didn't even discuss it with Coogler apparently so he obviously talked with it with very few people. They could pass the mantle to somebody else. Shuri, Okoye, Nakia, or something. If they did that I think they'd write him out as having passed, as he did in real life, probably of an illness they couldn't cure.
