I learned all the basics from playing Madden, Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball, NBA 2k, Hot Shots Golf, Ten Pin Alley, etc.

NBA for sure, I don't watch it at all, but I understand basically all the rules, penalties, etc from playing 2k each year.

Madden definitely helped with my understanding of some of football's basic fundamentals when I was younger, and made what I was watching on TV make a lot more sense.

funnily enough i have the opposite experience when it comes to (american)football.

playing old madden games back in the day probably gave me the biggest misrepresentation of the real life game out of every other sport.

playing the game led me to believe that how plays were decided was a swift and immediate decision(via a few button presses xd) and the majority of the game is spent actually playing football... but irl it was the exact opposite....

Well foosball really screwed up my perception of soccer. I got cut by my team when I was in high school because I started doing backflips.

Me. Just the rules and scoring. Didn't make me interested in the actual sports ever, but, yeah.

Yup. That's how I got into football. I had played football in school, but I didn't know shit besides "knock the fuck out of the other side because of your ridiculous pituitary unfairness"

Wii Sports sort of improved my bowling, and made the scoring systems in tennis and golf more understandable.

I used to play football but I never fully understood the intricacies of it all. Playing in the backyard with friends was more of..... "he's dead" and knock him into a tree with extreme force.

The only thing I've learned from sports video games is that to create a good team all you have to do is spend millions of dollars and maybe a decent player or two will show up.
