A full pardon does not make sense, because she was for sure guilty of the things she was convicted of. I agree that the sentence was unnecessarily long

i suppose that's a bit problematic, comparable to a modern version of the spoils system

edit: so it seems though, her sentence was commuted by the president a couple years ago, but it was on this occasion that she received a full pardon.
