Sounds like its less me needing to walk in your their shoes and more them understanding they took on more than theyre capable of. If youre not currently or have ever been a cop, doctor, lawyer, teacher, etc; you cant every truly claim to completely understand how easy or difficult every aspect of the profession is. Approaching someone as a cop is probably insanely difficult. Id assume a lot of the time there is no formula for the best way to handle a situation, its probably pretty fluid. He is a cop so he understands this. People can express discontent without it meaning that said discontent is the end-all be-all of that person.
