Hell be giving a Fox News interview in a week and at a Trump rally a week later. This country is a joke.

If this happened last month he'd be at the RNC.

i'll admit my knowledge of the law is kinda ****, but if you commit major felonies in one state and flee to another don't they just turn you back over to the other state once they catch you

Cops would have seen "he committed a crime in was sent to juvie" and they would have "known he was dangerous going in" and would have shot him dead the moment he tried to get into police protection.

when 3 men hunted down a black man jogging, hit him with their truck, and then shot him racists on this site screamed self defense

now when a 17 year old man crosses state lines with a gun to escalate a situation murders someone, the racists on this site scream self defense

At the very least, he was underage and therefore it was illegal for him to openly carry that weapon.

The rest is more debatable. As someone who is not a lawyer and not particularly knowledgeable about Wisconsin's relevant laws, here is my take.

Rittenhouse went armed to counter protest out of state. Visible weapons in a protest escalates the tension in an already tense situation. Imagine a protest where every single person on both sides of the protest was openly carrying a firearm. Who in their right mind would expect no one to get shot?

Trained cops get very nervous around aggressive individuals with weapon or whom they believe might have a weapon. How do you think an untrained civilian feels? When things get chaotic and you see there's a guy with a gun in front of you that hates you, you hear gunfire, you see people get shot, it is completely understandable to believe that individual with the gun is a threat to your life and for fight or flight instinct to kick in.

Once again, not very knowledgeable about self-defense laws in Wisconsin but I believe that if you put yourself in a situation that others reasonably feel they need to defend themselves from you, you're the aggressor.

Cops should certainly have detained him then and there and investigated the events.

Someone looked up the relevant laws. Because he was in the process of committing a crime, self defense laws in the state he committed the murders in shouldn't apply. Between that and the fact that he's not from the state, it also makes it so castle doctrine can't apply.

His mother's also probably going down as an accomplice. She drove him over state lines, and gave him the gun. By helping him commit crimes, she's also culpable for any other crimes he committed in the duration.

There is an exemption in open carry law for rifles and shotguns. You can be 16-17 and open carry them. The law was designed to allow younger teens use them on hunting trips, but the law itself doesn't specifically mention hunting I don't think.

I don't have enough info to have an opinion on what went down, I just have to ask the age old question of where were the parents at? I had parents who trusted me, but they would never let me cross state lines at night with a rifle to go to a place where there were protests and riots. Even if nothing went down, the parents would still look terrible.

not sure you are allowed to do this while open carrying remember reading a long time ago you arent supposed to hold that way while open carrying

why was he wearing gloves ?

She drove him? Didn't know that, she's gonna be charged with something.

the position of a long gun can vary by state (i dont know about WI) but that tends to be more of a grey area in general. as long as you arnt pointing the gun at someone theres very little recourse towards putting your hand on the handle. now if its a handgun thats out of the holster then thats more sketchy.

he was wearing gloves id assume from his earlier interview where he asaid he was also there to help administer aid if need be. he had a medical bag opposite his rifle.

Imagine getting your mom to drive you to a protest armed with a auto rifle to confront protesters and crying victim after instigating Said confrontation and killing people.

I cant ecen comprehend the mental gymnastics to look past that and try to place the blame on anyone but him.

Can I also add in that as a minor he could not legally posses that weapon and is still in the custody of his parents. His parents or legal guardian should be looked into. How did they allow him to posses the firearm? At the very least they should be investigated for negligence.

I can't find that specific quote, but NRA Dana Loesch said Castille wasn't defended by the NRA because he didn't follow the law (having weed in his car)
https://www.mic.com/articles/183614/dana-loesch-says-the-nra-didnt-defend-philando-castile-because-he-smoked-weed
He was also in possession of a controlled substance and a firearm simultaneously, which is illegal. Stop lying, she tweeted.

Apparently she also lied/misspoke about audio from the dashcam video to make Castille appear more guilty
https://www.mediamatters.org/national-rifle-association/defending-her-remarks-about-botham-jean-nras-dana-loesch-blames-philando
Loesch said, Castile didnt say that he had a concealed carry permit, he just said he had a gun, which, according to Loesch, is what youre supposed to [do] when youre pulled over. This comment is misleading at best. Under Minnesota law, Castile had no obligation to inform the officer he had a gun or a concealed carry permit. But Castile had told the police officer, Sir, I have to tell you that I do have a firearm on me, which suggests he was trying to proactively inform the officer.
