A Bond, which they can cash out at 18 for a whooping $1270! Basically a time delayed Stimulus Check...

Do you think States should give underprivileged newborns a Stack? (Poll Question)

NJ Governor proposes $1,000 'baby bond' for children to close wealth gap

It was right in the title >_>

Granted, given that it would only mature to $1,270 at 18, it doesn't do a whole lot... although they could leave it in longer and then they'd have something in savings. Granted, if even BS0 thinks it's a stupid plan, it must be pretty fucking terrible.

It can help, but I don't think it will bridge the gap. And tbh, they should up the interest on that somewhat...

Wouldn't $1270 be worth less than $1000 after 18 years of inflation?

Just because someone says something doesn't make that statement reasonable.

Average US out of pocket child birth cost was $4,569 in 2015 (and the trend is sharply rising)

People are probably better off without healthcare wringing them dry if we're going by the numbers and the government getting "involved". Amazing how young people are even having kids these days.
