I was hanging out with an old group of coworkers (from ~2 years ago) They invited me over to drink and watch some movies and I agreed.

They got all in way over their heads but I remained sober the whole time because the travel back would take me a minute. They got to telling old war stories and shenanigans we got up to and someone brought up when a friend of mine, who we'll call Bob. (who was not present) A few years ago he got blackout drunk and made out with someone publicly in front of this very same group, me included. Bob is engaged, and was dating that same person then too. Fiance never found out about it, group never ratted, we let it be and life moved on. I was there first hand and talked sense into Bob the next day and all was well for years or so I thought. He got his act together.

The reason why someone in this current party brought up that event was because Bob cockblocked me with this girl. We had just met at that party back then and were really hitting it off, then he swept in and drunkenly made advances that worked and the two made out. "CommunismFTW, remember when Bob cockblocked you by making out with that random chick at the bar??? Hahaha!!!!" And they all start laughing. All except one girl.

A friend of his goddamn fiance.

She ratted immediately and now I'm being thrown under the bus like I brought it up, or dished out the drama, or whatever. That I was the one who blew the lid off. Fucks sake.

For one reason or another, the group has decided that you are the scapegoat here. Nothing short of groveling will change their opinion. Best to discard them and get better friends.

I have a funny feeling the outcome would be even easier if this was what happened. But because bob caught wind that he got narc'd, and I was there in the party, he's auto-blaming me.

I literally don't understand the point of making a post like this. If the TC did something so stupid, they would obviously know it was their fault. You just want to be contrarian and are probably like the group of people shirking responsibility/wanting to blame others for your own mistakes.

But not for anything you said. You were at fault for going to their party in the first place. Never look back. Ive learned this the hard way over and over again. When its time to move on, then you need to move. Nostalgic relationships are nothing but pathways to ruin. You cut ties, you move forward. You dont go back.

Ahh, yeah. This rings true. But it's hard to maintain friendships at my age and it sucks that my low-orbit of casual friends are drama filled, petty, alcoholic industry zombies. I learned more than a few lessons here.
