They are just bloated with so much garbage, and because most of the successful games are successful due to either expoitative garbage like anime waifus or huge marketing campaigns, there is no reliable way to look through the ratings or best sellers to find actually good games. Compared to Steam where there is a higher barrier of entry for most the games (Most people don't have gaming PCs) and the games are generally full priced affairs where thinly veiled exploitation tends to hold up less well, and it makes the issue more obvious.

Plus there is so much anti-consumer stuff is allowed on the app stores. You used to (might still be able to) bribe players to write a review for your game in order to get free items in your game, and on account on you giving them free things in the moment, statistically most people will give a 4 or 5 star rating in that review. So much shit like this is allowed it's disturbing.
