the answer is U. it goes +1 then +2 then back to +1 and increases the second step by 1 each time
  1. Let x = 1
  2. Add 1
  3. Add x + 1, increase x by 1
  4. Go to 2

the sequence is two sequential letters, with an increasing gap between pairs.

CD [E] FG [HI] JK [LMN] OP [QRST] UV

would be my guess. it's very strange why it starts with at C, though. if [AB] is considered a gap, the sequence falls apart.
