It's weird when stuff like that happens. I had a cat run away like 5 years ago. Found it like 2 years later. One of my old neighbors(I moved) happened to post a picture on Facebook of a stray cat she'd been feeding for a few weeks and I stumbled across the picture. Looked just like my old cat. Asked her to grab him and bring him inside next time she saw him so I could come by and check. Turns out it was my cat. Lucky break. I was convinced he got hit by a car and died or something.

I had a super friendly stray cat living here when I moved in, she kept trying to come inside, but at the time I didn't need another cat, and outdoor/indoor makes me nervous, and I knew she would constantly want to go out.

One of my wife's dad's church members has a farm about 9 miles away on 100 acres, real far from a busy road, and he was looking for an indoor/outdoor to help with the field mice, but also as an indoor pet. So we let him take her there, because she would have a better life. About 3 months later, she disappeared, he was pretty upset about it because he got attached, and a few days later, she was back at our house, collar on with his address on the tag. She somehow managed to travel 9 miles and get back to our land. We brought her back again and she stayed on his land thereafter.

I always get a little nervous thinking about either of my birds getting outside. They wouldnt survive for a day. Glad this owner and parakeet were reunited.
