The dragonfly is the best-looking here. I've always thought fretless basses look better anyhow though.

I couldn't afford the Stingray but did grab a Ray34 which sounds ALMOST identical to me and less than half the price.

Of the ones listed, I like the Dragonfly more. I'd be happy with a left-handed version of that. =)

To be honest they took a long time to grow on me, I always hated how ugly that round pickguard was. I tried some $300 MM SUB and was really impressed at how good it sounded for the price. I ended up getting the next step up (Ray34) for about $700 but this was a while ago I'm sure they've gone down since. For my money though if I were to recommend a good, cheap bass I gotta' go Soundgear 300 all the way. I still have mine. Nice little bass and hey 24 frets to boot!

I've always wanted an original Spector NS-2 but they are always so much friggin' money. I had a chance to buy a buddy's used one back in '96 for $300. I didn't have the money at the time but OHHHHH damn that sucks!

I'd want a Ric 4003 someday, but I never see one for less than $2000 or so. Maybe Geddy will BEQUEATH me one!!

I played a (term for a Chinese Rickenbacker knock off I would get banned for mentioning) which was only a couple hundred bucks before. But as soon as I walked into the store I saw it hanging on the wall with everything else and I heard the "God's Rays" angels song haha. It was a sunburst model, and didn't have the dual output, but otherwise it looked almost the same.

I was able to play a real Ric only one time, when I was travelling to Ohio and checked out a local shop. It was a blue one, which was pretty cool because usually I only see the sunburst or black models. To be honest, I was expecting... more somehow. I'm happier with my Ray34 and it's less than half the price. I think you pay for the name now, mostly. Stores can charge that much money because it's a legendary instrument and people will pay it until the end of time.
