Why isn't this more common? So no cutscenes showing what the villain is up to or plotting or showing side characters doing stuff. A totally immersive but still story focused rpg. I'm struggling to think of many, Elder Scrolls games do this a lot but they're mostly not great.

Outside of the opening scene, Deus Ex does this. And the opening scene doesn't really show anything other than the obvious bad guys being bad guys.
