I'm just saying "C'est la vie" is toxic and that the American system is not set up for change. Moderate and compromising doesn't change the world. Presidential elections are not set up in a way to do that. Pendulum swinging is inevitable. There isn't room for enough diverse opinions in government.

The last time the Brits tried to end the monarchy it did not end well for them.

They ended because people stopped taking it. The broken systems allowed those things in the first place. It took hundredsa of years to convince a majority of white people that black people were human beings and that it benefited them to treat them as such.

"Less bad than Trump" is the enemy of "halfway decent". If the system is broken, then there is no point in trusting it.

I agree, the system won't ever let that happen. The people will need to find a way to make the change. However that will take time, think of all the damage another Trump term will do to the US. At least the Democrats are pretending to give half a shit about your country.

Our (individual) votes have virtually no value, even in swing states! We only place such outsized value on voting because of our deranged notions of individualism and personal responsibility. And both parties are deeply invested in painting a vote for the Greens/Libertarians as a vote for the Republicans/Democrats respectively.
I, for one, live in CT. It literally doesn't matter who I vote for, Biden is going to win CT. So I'm going to take my ceremonial exercise of democracy and tell him and Trump to...*numerous TOS violations*, because, while it won't make any difference, at least I will feel marginally better about it.

The people deliberately destroying the house are doing so by voting democratically to have the house destroyed.

The only way the house will ever get built will be if enough people vote to not destroy it.

Once the house is built, we can vote on making improvements to it, but the first step is still to build a house.

Yeah, I live in a red state so it's not like it matters anyway. But, as of today, Biden has lost my vote. Him and KH will have to do a lot of work to convince me again.

This is literally bullshit and people need to stop saying this. Winner take all does not mean your votes have no value. Even in a loss, a close enough election can help future prospective politicians identify where they can make a change big enough to win things.

By voting in the people who want to change the system. There's none on the presidential ballot this year but many congressmen and local politicians want electoral reform and while you're voting for them you may as well vote for Biden since he will help those people win even if he does not share your goals.
